Marvel has put an end to two of its four Hulu animated series. Howard the Duck and Tigra & Dazzler are officially canned. The other two series, MODOK and Hit Monkey, are going to continue as planned, but it’s unclear what will happen to its crossover series The Offenders.
This isn’t wholly surprising, especially when it comes to Tigra & Dazzler. The series had been paused thanks to creative differences between Marvel. Things only escalated when a creative overhaul supposedly happened, causing all work done by the previous team to be tossed away.
The change in development comes after Kevin Feige got the chance to be more hands-on when it comes to Marvel’s TV shows and films as its chief creative officer. In his position, Feige managed to lump in Marvel Television into Marvel Studios.
Marvel TV’s new lineup, aside from its two standing animated series, includes the likes of the final season of Agents of SHIELD and Hulu’s drama, Helstrom. Sadly, the live-action Ghost Rider series which was announced isn’t going to move forward. It should also be clear, there is still stark differences between Marvel TV’s and Marvel Studios’ lineup. Where Marvel Studios has live-action content such as Loki and WandaVision. Marvel TV has content such as the animated Disney+ What If series, Moon Knight, She-Hulk, and Ms. Marvel.
It’s not likely we’ll never see Howard the Duck again, he’s cameoed in other projects and odds are, he’ll continue to do so. It’s just unlikely he’ll find himself fully in the spotlight again. As for the other series, only time will tell.
