The Minions are back in a brand-new film. The spotlight was once again thrown their way as revealed in its own ad spot during the Super Bowl this year. Labeled Minions: The Rise of Gru, it’s looking like it will tell the story of the evil mastermind, Gru, as he grows up surrounded by the yellow creatures.
The Minions’ last outing was 2017’s Despicable Me 3. But after that, it almost seemed like they were finally going away. That being said, in the back of everyone’s mind, they probably knew a prequel was possible by the end of 2015’s Minions movie.
The peanut-shaped creatures have a mixed reception to the public, some love them while others absolutely despise them, calling them annoying. Another factor could easily be the oversaturation of the characters who were on just about every piece of merchandise and of course, who could forget the memes shared around on Facebook.
Very little is known about Minions: The Rise of Gru, but it appears it will be using a large amount of toilet humor, much to the chagrin of those who don’t like them for that reason. The ad space during the Super Bowl wasn’t its trailer, but rather a mere teaser ahead of its full trailer raring to launch Wednesday.
