The sci-fi Netflix original series, Altered Carbon, is not going to get a third season. Starring Avengers alumnus, Anthony Mackie, Altered Carbon kicked off in early 2018 to Netflix. The first season had House of Cards’ Joel Kinnaman taking on the lead role with Mackie taking over when Season 2 rolled around.
The series’ second season kicked off six months ago. According to Deadline, the big player in this decision came down to Netflix’s process in assessing the price it takes to make an episode and the viewership the series gets. As such, it was seemingly not canned due to COVID-19.
What the Altered Carbon Season 2 trailer:
Created by Laeta Kalogridis, the series is an adaptation of Richard K. Morgan’s novel of the same name. Skydance Television was the producer while Alison Schapker took on the role as the showrunner.
Altered Carbon is far from the first show to be shuttered after a meager one or two seasons. Turn Up Charlie, The Sketch Show, Messiah, Spinning Out, and more have all been dropped by the major streamer.
