The figure skating drama, Spinning Out, has been canned by Netflix after its first season ran its course. Its decision to cut the cord isn’t too shocking when observing the company’s practices. They often overlook how well a show does in terms of viewership in its first month of release before pulling the trigger on another season.
Spinning Out follows Kat Baker, a professional figure skater whose career was cut short due to an injury that left her almost incapable of performing. This didn’t bring her down, though, as she partnered up with “bad-boy” Justin Davis to enter into pairs skating.
The series was spearheaded by former figure skater Samantha Stratton with Kaya Scodelario playing Baker. Evan Roderick plays the role of Davis. Sarah Wright Olsen, Amanda Zhou, and Svetlana Efremova also take part in the Netflix original.
Stratton and Lara Olsen took to executive produce and act as co-showrunners for the series. Matt Schwartz, Tory Tunnell, and Joby Harold are representing Safehouse Pictures and taking the daunting task of executive producing the series, alongside Stratton and Olsen.
This isn’t even the only recent show to be canceled by the streaming giant. Friday saw Jenna Dewan-starring drama Soundtrack shuttered after a single season.
