Esports has taken a massive hit due to the widespread nature of the coronavirus. Not only has the League of Legends Pro League delayed the tournament due to the virus, but now the Overwatch League has followed suit. This isn’t too shocking, especially considering those traveling to China are advised against it even if they can. Odds are attendance would suffer.
The Overwatch League shared a Twitter post claiming this was to ensure the safety of all, including its players and staff.

Originally, the events were going to be held during early February and March, but with a large number of cases and a growing death toll, it’s probably for the best and more cost-effective to just cancel the event and plan to start it again at a later date.
They don’t have a public date or where it’ll take place just yet, they’re probably hoping for the virus to whittle down to nearly nothing.
