Disney is continuing to build up its repertoire of originals for its decently affordable Disney Plus platform. With its flagship series – The Mandalorian – slated to return this October, Disney knows it can run off of just that Star Wars spin-off. As such, many of its big properties have been getting possibilities of a series. As with its reveal in May, the same can be said with the Percy Jackson franchise.
What started as a book franchise was picked up by Disney and made into a fairly well-known set of films. Rick Riordan, the author of the source material, decided to tease fans by acknowledging the writing process is underway for the pilot.
Watch this clip of Percy Jackson & the Olympians:
“It will be live-action television and we are writing the script for the pilot episode right now so we have a long way to go but I am very optimistic and we have a great team together so fingers crossed we’re going to have a super run for this show.”
Getting this straight from Riordan is surely a weight off of fans’ chests as squabbles between him and Disney executives soured any chance of him viewing Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief and its sequel, Sea of Monsters.
Fans will have to wait a bit longer before we know when the series is set to stream.
