The 2003 MTV prank show, Punk’d, has acquired a new host for its revival on the mobile-first streaming service, Quibi. Revealed in a short trailer for the series, Chancelor Bennett, better known as Chance the Rapper, is stepping up to the plate.
Supposedly, the Coloring Book rapper was an avid fan of the show which ran from 2003 to 2015 and called it “surreal” to be passed the torch and “in the driver’s seat.”
“I grew up watching this show, and it’s surreal to be in the driver’s seat this time around on Quibi.”
The news broke that Punk’d was being revived by Quibi in June, 2019. It really seems the service has been on a spree of announcing and acquiring new properties to make bite-sized content about. Besides Punk’d, they also have Kirby Jenner, a series based on a man who jokes about being the twin brother of Kendall Jenner, 50 Cent’s Trill League, and a total roster of around 50 shows.
Quibi is launching April 6, but it’s unclear how much content will be available at launch as none of its public shows have release dates.
