After a long wait, fans have finally got an actual look at the new Sonic the Hedgehog movie design. Needless to say, the reaction is much more positive than his initial look. It also gave a lot more comedic moments and a look at Sonic leaping between his homeworld and Earth.
Back in March, the design was leaked in the way of a silhouette that no one seemed to be fond of. The iconic character was even unrecognizable to its own creator with Yuji Naka tweeting out: “Is this a Sonic movie?”

May saw the first trailer for the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie, but one thing stood in the way of it getting some love, ironically, it was the main character. Paramount Pictures, who is spearheading this film, thought it was a good idea to make him more humanoid. This led to features that shouldn’t have been altered such as him missing his gloves in favor of hands.
Loud and clear
The backlash was so intense, Director Jeff Fowler assured fans their voices were heard and they were working on a new design for Sonic. They later pushed its November release to a February 2020 release to get it “just right.”
