Rumors are spreading that various Star Trek off-shoots are being canned (including the upcoming Star Trek: Prodigy) as newly-appointed Paramount Pictures president – Emma Watts – supposedly wants to take the franchise away from Alex Kurtzman and Bad Robot.
Hailing from 4Chan, the rumor claims Star Trek: Picard is on the chopping block after a meager one season despite a rather positive stance within the community. Short Treks was also listed as being canned. Meanwhile, Discovery is getting its third season reworked to act as a series finale.

Lower Decks, the animated CBS comedy series that takes place in the franchise’s universe, is also unlikely to see a second season, banking solely on good viewership. That said, it was rather mediocre with a lackluster 33 percent on Rotton Tomates’ audience score, leaving it always possible it wouldn’t last, anyway.
Strange New Worlds, on the other hand, hasn’t been affected thus far, but it could easily change if the leadership has to be taken in a different direction.
Of course, this is all but a rumor, so a massive grain of salt is needed when looking taking this into consideration.
