The Masked Singer has been a surprising hit for Fox’s lineup, having an interesting twist to the usual “who’s behind the voice” style shows by putting its contestants in a full-body costume. But, it seems a 2018 advertisement may have derailed one of its contestant’s “wow” factor and his identity is just an open secret at this point. It appears the contestant in question, going by White Tiger, maybe former New England Patriots football player and Fox Sports analyst, Rob “Gronk” Gronkowski.
The Masked Singer kicked off its third season with six contestants on February 2. White Tiger, which chose to sing Ice, Ice Baby stood out from the rest as keen listeners picked his voice out from the crowd and dug up a 2018 Snow Teeth Whitening commercial featuring Rob Gronkowski. In the advert, he sounded eerily similar to the singing tiger.
His clues even point to the athlete. In the video telling the clues of who’s under the mask, the tiger boasted about having a “career full of accomplishments.” This would be true as Gronkowski is a three-year Super Bowl champion.
The former tight-end also seems to have a fondness of clam chowder which could either be a reference to the food or to his entire career playing for the New England Patriots. They also put in a quick shot with Abraham Lincoln’s “four score and seven years ago” phrase. This translates to 87, which for those who don’t know, was also his jersey number.
Nevertheless, how long it will take for his identity to be revealed is anyone’s guess.
