Emilio Estevez may be making his triumphant return as Coach Gordon Bombay in the upcoming The Mighty Ducks Disney+ series. Even though the series was known to be in the works for a while, ABC Signature Studios kept a lot of details under lock-and-key. Days before the launch of the streaming service, though, the plot was revealed, but much of the cast remained a mystery.
The series is going to follow a 13-year-old who was cut from the Mighty Ducks team. In response, with support and help from his mom, they set out to make a new team, coach, and to find a place to practice.
Estevez returning could be a good sign as the last outing he had as Coach Bombay was a mere cameo in D3: The Mighty Ducks. Aside from the starring actor, no other actors have been confirmed for the series.
The reveal comes just after Shaun Weiss, one of the child actors in the films, has been arrested for breaking and entering while appearing to be high on meth. It’s fair to say, odds are fans won’t be seeing Greg Goldberg in the series. But, there’s still time for more of its old cast to join in and appear in the series as either a cameo or a main role like Estavez.
The story surrounding The Mighty Ducks follows lawyer Bombay as he must work off his community service after getting caught drunk driving.
