Parks and Recreation star Amy Poehler is bringing The Mother-in-Law to NBC. According to THR, the series has a hefty put-pilot commitment on NBC’s part.
The series is based on the book of the same by Sally Hepworth. The Path’s Jessica Goldberg will be penning the script. Poehler’s Paper Kite Productions, 3 Arts Entertainment, and Universal TV are tied to the project. Hepworth, Poehler, and Goldberg will be acting as executive producers alongside Paper Kite’s Kate Arend and 3 Arts Entertainment’s Dave Becky.
The Mother-in-Law is described as: “an unexpected thriller centered around a woman’s complicated relationship with her husband’s family that ends in death. A gripping mystery that explores motherhood, class, race and how dangerous family secrets can be.”
Paper Kite is no stranger to the production world with series such as Russian Doll and Making It under its belt. Fox’s animated series Duncanville, Adult Swim’s live-action comedy The Three Busy Debras, and Netflix‘s Wine Country are also on the fast track of launching later down the line.
Poehler, who has found herself in many places in the entertainment industry, has yet to announce this project’s timeline.
