For the past two years, Hasan Minhaj, a former senior correspondent for The Daily Show, has been hard at work formulating his own weekly talk show for Netflix – Patriot Act. Well, it looks like Netflix has opted to not renew his contract.
Watch this Deep Cuts section of Patriot Act:
Announced via social media, Minhaj, revealed that Patriot Act was over, not citing any particular reason. It’s not uncommon for a streaming platform to drop a series if it dips in ratings or they simply don’t see enough value in continuing.
What a run. @patriotact has come to an end. I got to work with the best writers, producers, researchers, and animators in the game. My 2 babies were born and grew up with the show. TY to @Netflix and everyone who watched. Now it’s time to return these screens to Best Buy ? pic.twitter.com/4s4TrsKWe6

No hard feelings seem to be held between the creator and Netflix and he thanked everyone he worked with and Netflix itself. The series has won an Emmy, a Peabody, and two Webbys. Patriot Act finished with a modest 40 episodes across its six seasons.
